Another recipe and a bundle of fluff

Today I made Tomato Macaroni au Gratin for tea.


225g macaroni
1/2 tin of tomatoes
1 small onion chopped
100g grated cheese
50g margarine
3 sprigs of parsley
salt and pepper
1 tbsp breadcrumbs

Brush a deep pie dish with melted margarine. Cook the macaroni in boiling water for 20 mins, after you have got the macaroni going, in another pan on a low heat melt the margarine or butter as I used and cook the onion until soft, add the tomatoes, parsley and seasoning, the recipe said to let simmer for 30 mins I just did it until the macaroni cooking time was up.

When the macaroni is ready put it in the dish along with the sauce, add a little more salt and pepper if required, mix in the sauce and grated cheese, finish with a sprinkling of breadcrumbs.

I then placed it in the oven at 180 c for 15 mins.

I did add a few tbsp's of bread crumbs as I felt one was insufficient, and I cooked on a lower heat than was specified, the recipe said to cook for 15 mins at 210 c, I didn't want it drying out.

Served with some salad.

The verdict......

The recipe said it would serve 6-8 helpings, well maybe if you are a mouse.

There were four of us eating tonight this is my plate, I divided it into four.

We were all in agreement although it was nice it could have done with some more sauce, so next time I would use a whole tin of chopped tomatoes, also maybe add a few oz more cheese, and add more breadcrumbs to for the topping with some more herbs.

Other news...

This morning we noticed a little crack and in one of the Silkie eggs, and tonight before tea this little ball of fluff appeared.

 My turn for a hold, so cute with his/hers little punky hair style.

I will take some better pictures tomorrow, he/she will be more fluffed up and alert then.
