The Birds & the Bees

Today I have had a lazy day, I have been out in the garden for most of it, just relaxing and watching the birds. The robins and blackbirds are in all the time gathering food for their young, I am going through quite a lot of sultanas and mealworms, but I really don't mind, watching them gives me so much pleasure.

Mr Blackbird comes over to me asking for sultanas

Today was the first time I saw a thrush near the garden.

My favourites, I love the Robins, they are getting so friendly, I have been trying to get them feeding from my hand, they are growing in confidence and are always following me around so I don't think it will be long.

The bees hard at work

Lovely to see goldfinches coming in regularly now.

So this has been my day so far, we all need a lazy day sometimes.

  1. That's a baby goldfinch on the left so there must have been a nest nearby. Lovely! Love your robins and the blackbirds, well, love all of them really! I'm going to give zippit a go, thanks for the tip x

    1. There is a big damson tree in next door and we can always see them in there, but they are coming in regularly now. Ziffit I find gives the best prices x

  2. Glad to hear you have had a quiet day, Marlene. We all need those occasionally, and nothing is lovelier than a day spent relaxing in the garden.

  4. How lovely, our garden was too hot this afternoon, no breeze like there normally is. I too love Robins.

    1. Hi Tania the temperatures are set to get really high tomorrow so we will get the parasol out again, I think the Robin is always top of the polls for the nations favourite bird.

    1. Thankyou Sue I managed some good shots.
Well done you, I am usually always busy but I didn't have much energy today as my sleep is a bit disrupted again and I still have a sore back so I thought I should have a break.

  8. Relaxing is not lazy, in my book. It's necessary for rejuvenation. We, in America, don't do it enough.
Your Robin looks different than ours. I think yours is prettier.
    I hope you're feeling better.

  9. We have so many birds here, but a thrush is rare. Goldfinches are here every day, and occasionally a pair of bullfinch comes in.
