Hello and welcome to my new follower Fran.

Mrs Great Tit still continues to settle back into the box in the evenings and leaves again in the morning, so she hasn't finished laying yet.

We can see four eggs, but there could be a few more we can't see at the back.

They usually lay between 7 and 9.

Our son will be back home before they hatch, so there will be some more videos then.
Very interesting to watch.

  1. Mrs Great Tit has decorated the nest beautifully. So lovely to see, Marlene, looking forward to another video. Won't be long before Mrs GT's little fledglings will need the perch back to reach the exit.

    1. They shouldn't need it as they seem to manage ok, but we will see what happens.

  3. How exciting! You must be thrilled. I've just left some wool for the birds here, hoping they'll use it in their nests too. Great tits are single-brooded so let's hope we don't get the same downpour of rain at key caterpillar-gathering points as we did last year- their numbers are down this year as a result and they could do with a good breeding season to make up for it. Do let us all know how yours get on x

    1. Hi I will, the weeping cherry tree usually has some caterpillars on it, so I hope they will be alright, yes I will keep you updated x

  4. It must be wonderful watching the birds on a daily basis Marlene. Let's hope there will be more eggs so they will be in with a good chance of rearing some chicks x

  6. How lovely to have great tits in your nest box. they come to our garden but we don't have a nest box as our cat and the neighbour's cat both sadly have 'form' with nesting birds x

  7. It's so nice to be able to see what is going on inside the nesting box.
We have just found that we have something nesting in ours which hangs from the old apricot tree and I think it might be the same kind of bird....so exciting-x-
