Hello and welcome to my news follower Linda & Loveday1.

Today is my 49th birthday.

We always have a day out or go for a meal when it's a birthday.

We went to Worcester.

Wherever we go there is always a Cathedral Visit.

After the Cathedral we had a little wander around in the town and then called into Starbucks, I had a nice ham & cheese toastie with a mug of fudge hot chocolate, with lashings of cream on top of course.

Next stop was Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum.

Then a visit to the Tudor House Museum.

All of the places were free to visit, so it just goes to show you can have a lovely day out without breaking the bank.

Back home for a lovely tea...

Every time I thought I blew the candles out the flames appeared again , it was trick candles.

A perfect day in every way.

We visited Worcester many years ago with my (now late) mother, and we visited the gorgeous cathedral and after that visited the Dyson Perrins Museum and saw all the wonderful Royal Worcester porcelain. A memorable day, much enjoyed, just as I'm sure you enjoyed yesterday.

  16. I don't know how I missed this post but Happy Birthday for yesterday.
    What a smashing day out.
I loved the domestic history photos and spotted the washing machine my Grandma used to have....yes the tub and dolly that she used to use out in the garage. I used to stand on a little wooden stool and work the dolly for her sometimes. So glad we don't have to wash like that now-x-

  22. Belated birthday greetings for Thursday - sorry I missed it on the day.
Those photos brought back so many memories - the wooden tongs to lift the washing out of the boiler; the dolly tub and puncher (I loved thumping the wet washing with that!); the Singer sewing machine, just like Mums, where she sat sewing clothes for me and later the grandchildren, as well as curtains, covers, alterations to other people's clothes and curtains, etc. Wash Day used to be a whole day's work in those times - filling the boiler, lighting the fire underneath it, boiling the 'whites', adding the 'blue bag', starching, rinsing in the sink or tub several times and finally putting everything through the big wooden rollers on the mangle (with any buttons carefully folded into the middle so they wouldn't get broken.); doing the washing nowadays is very different, isn't it?
