  2. I love cut flowers but they are so expensive, your are beautiful. Next year I am having a cut flower garden, so I can have blooms inside.

  6. Cut flowers are the one thing which I always buy, seldom is the house without flowers and I had some bargains this week. Bunches of spray chrysanths (not the easiest to arrange unless you shorten the stems) for £1.69 a bunch I Lidl, and roses for £2 a bunch. So I bought two of the crysanths and one of the roses and therefore had three bunches for under £6 which was the price of one bunch of roses in Waitrose.
I cut tall flowers down, that way they can be arranged as posies in various vases, or in one for a grander effect, and I sometimes add foliage from the to just a few blooms. I have the roses in two vases in the bedroom - had I splashed out on two bunches I'd have split them between three vases, one on each bedside chest of drawers and the other on the dressing chest. If the water is changed regularly, flowers will last a week or, with woody stems, up to 10 days. I will cut the corners with other things rather than go without flowers (but then I don't actually need to cut corners if I spend wisely, har, har!)

    1. Lidl is very good for flowers, we don't really go there much anymore, we do have one in the town but you have to take your shopping out of the store up a lift and into the public car park and I can't be doing with all that nonsense, we do have another in Gloucester which is 10 mins drive so might go there sometime.
I agree that if we spend wisely there is no need to go without, I have placed the three vases in different rooms and it is a real pleasure seeing them.

  8. I love having flowers in the house but most of the time the cost is just way above what I'm prepared to spend. Although I'm not a keen lidl shopper flowers and smoked salmon usually draws me in lol. Sadly I've yet to see a bunch as cheap as that near me but I'm always on the look out.
