Today we only found a few bargains, but I am pleased with the result.

I have only ever roasted and eaten Duck once before, do you eat Duck? any good ideas what to do with them other than roasting?

Today I tested out the bread maker we got from Freecycle.

When we got back from the supermarket, the bungalow was filled with a lovely smell.

Turkey Sandwiches for lunch, and Turkey Curry for Tea, and that's the end of the Turkey.

  1. Surely not the end of the turkey? lol What about a delicious turkey soup? I always made stock from the carcass when I ate meat and made turkey soup for the house guests I had every New Year's Day to watch the American Football. Which brings me to maybe not the best person to ask about recipes for duck, and it's been a long time, but you can't beat the old fashioned traditional Duck a la Orange or Duck in Cherries. If I remember correctly, it is quite a flavoursome meat and goes well with Hoisin sauce too.

  2. Love duck ! Roasting is good. But you could also take off the breast meat and pan fry, finished off in the oven. The legs slowly cooked in duck fat or even lard. Tender and succulent. Yum. And the carcass of course makes a fantastic stock.
What a beautiful loaf you produced there. xxx...x

  4. I've never tried duck but I wouldn't have passed it up at that price. I've just looked at your last post, you're getting some great bargains, well done.

    1. I have had a couple in the past which burn't out on me, but that was when they first came out, I don't think I would have ever paid for another one, as it takes so long for you to get your money back x
