Yesterday we had a day out in Tewkesbury, 15-20 mins from where we live.

We went and had a look around the Abbey.

It is the second largest church in the country and a former benedictine monastery.

There were some lovely trees in the grounds.

We are not religious folk but we do  love to visit a Church, Abbey or Cathedral when we are out, such beautiful architecture, and I love the calming relaxing feeling.

A few other pictures from around the town.

A truly lovely day out.

  1. I do love Tewkesbury! We ate at the Bell the last time we visited, really good food. The abbey feels so peaceful inside that it's hard to imagine the slaughter which took place inside during the war of the roses, isn't it. Oh, and I really like the sculpture of children outside too. Great photos, Marlene x

  5. Tewkesbury Abbey is beautiful, I agree. Have you 'done' Gloucester Cathedral yet? I know I'm biased, but it is truly a beautiful building. I'm not religious, but the serenity of it is almost magical. The inner courtyard garden in the cloisters is also a lovely place for a picnic in the sunshine :)
Another place - if you like cute market towns - is Newent. Actually, there are loads of fantastic places to bimble around for the day/ a few hours in Gloucestershire :)
